Privacy Policy

Effective date: 12 July 2026

1. Who we are

SnapDish (“we”, “us”, or “our”) is a mobile application that helps households scan their fridge and generate personalised recipe suggestions. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it.

If you have questions, contact us at businesscodepulse@gmail.com.

2. Data we collect

Account information

When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and authentication tokens. You can also sign in via Google or Apple, in which case we receive only the information you authorise those providers to share.

Profile preferences

To generate relevant recipes, we store your dietary preferences, allergies, skill level, and favourite cuisines.

Photos

When you scan your fridge or photograph a finished dish, images are uploaded to our secure storage. Fridge scan images are processed by AI to identify ingredients and are not stored longer than necessary for that scan session. Dish photos you choose to save are retained as part of your meal history.

Household data

We store the name of your household, your membership role, and voting and rating activity associated with your household.

Push notification tokens

If you grant permission, we store your device push token to send you household voting and recipe notifications.

Usage data

We collect basic server logs (IP address, request timestamps, error reports) to operate and debug the service, and use a product analytics tool to understand which features are used so we can improve the app.

Advertising identifiers

If you found SnapDish through one of our ad campaigns, we (and our advertising partners) use a device or advertising identifier to measure whether that campaign led to an install and, later, a subscription; this is how we know which ads are actually working, not to build a profile of you for anyone else's use. On iOS, this only happens if you allow it when prompted (Settings → Privacy → Tracking lets you change this at any time); if you decline, our advertising partners still receive limited, aggregated campaign performance data via Apple's SKAdNetwork, which does not identify you individually.

3. How we use your data

  • To authenticate you and keep your account secure
  • To generate personalised recipe suggestions via AI
  • To enable household sharing, voting, and meal history
  • To send you notifications you have opted into
  • To diagnose and fix bugs in the service
  • To measure the performance of our own advertising campaigns (see “Advertising identifiers” above); we do not run ads for anyone else, and we do not build advertising profiles from your recipe or fridge data

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

4. AI processing

The app tells you this directly, and asks you to agree, before you scan anything; see “How SnapDish uses AI” the first time you open the app. In short: fridge scan photos, finished-dish photos, and your dietary preferences and allergies are sent to third-party AI providers (including Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google) to identify ingredients, check dish photos, and generate recipe text. These providers may retain request data in accordance with their own policies. We do not send personally identifiable information (name, email) to AI providers, only images and anonymised preference data.

5. Data sharing

We share data only with the following categories of service providers, and only to the extent necessary:

  • Cloud storage: Cloudflare R2 (dish photos)
  • AI providers: Anthropic, OpenAI, Google (ingredient detection, dish photo checks, recipe generation)
  • Authentication: Google, Apple (if you use social sign-in)
  • Advertising measurement: TikTok, to measure our own ad campaigns (see “Advertising identifiers” in Section 2; iOS requires your permission first)

Our AI and cloud storage providers are bound by their own published API/business terms not to use data we send them to train their own models, and to handle it with security and confidentiality protections consistent with this policy. Our advertising partner uses the data we send it to measure and optimise our ad campaigns specifically; that is its intended, disclosed purpose here, not an independent use.

We may disclose data if required by law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of SnapDish, our users, or the public.

6. Data retention

We retain your account and household data for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time from the app; this permanently removes your personal data within 30 days. Server logs are retained for up to 90 days.

7. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or to request a copy. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at businesscodepulse@gmail.com. We will respond within 30 days.

8. Children

SnapDish is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with their data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Security

We use industry-standard measures including TLS encryption in transit and access controls to protect your data. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via the app or email. Continued use of SnapDish after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
