
Tuna Masala
Flaky fish simmered in a warmly spiced, creamy sauce for a satisfying low-carb main.
INGREDIENTS
- 500g Yellowfin Tuna Steak
- 1 Onion
- 2 Tomato
- 2 tsp Garlic Paste
- 2 tsp Ginger Paste
- 4 tbsp Cooking Oil
- 0.5 tsp Ground Turmeric
- 1 tsp Ground Cumin
- 2 tsp Ground Coriander
- 1 tsp Garam Masala
- 0.5 tsp Red Chilli Powder
- 240ml Water
- 8g Coriander
- 1 tsp Salt

Thaw 500g of yellowfin tuna steak safely in the refrigerator if frozen. Pat dry, cut into bite-sized pieces, and season with 1 tsp of salt.

Heat 4 tbsp of cooking oil in a wide pan over medium heat. Add 1 onion (finely chopped) and cook for 6 minutes, stirring occasionally, until softened and lightly golden.

Add 2 tsp of garlic paste and 2 tsp of ginger paste and cook for 1 minute until fragrant. Add 0.5 tsp of ground turmeric, 1 tsp of ground cumin, 2 tsp of ground coriander, and 0.5 tsp of red chilli powder, then stir for 30 seconds.

Add 2 tomatoes (finely chopped) and 240ml of water. Simmer uncovered for 8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the tomatoes break down and the masala becomes thick and glossy.

Add the seasoned 500g of yellowfin tuna steak pieces to the masala and gently coat them. Cover and cook over medium-low heat for 8 to 10 minutes, turning once, until the tuna is opaque throughout and flakes easily. Check the thickest piece with a thermometer if available, it should reach at least 63°C.

Stir in 1 tsp of garam masala and finish with 8g of coriander (chopped). Rest off the heat for 2 minutes, then serve.
